The Discipline of Rhythm
In all things, there is a pulse, a movement from fullness to emptiness, from advance to retreat. This rhythm governs not only the turning of the seasons but the rise and fall of ventures, the breath of markets, and the tides of the human spirit.
Tesla observed that the universe itself is built upon oscillations, each wave carrying its own energy and its own season of opportunity. The wise act not in defiance of these cycles, but in harmony with them.
The warrior Musashi taught that one must not strike until the moment is ripe, for a blade swung too soon is wasted strength. The strategist must therefore discern: is the wave in ascent, calling for decisive movement, or in descent, demanding preparation?
To act in rhythm is to avoid the twin errors of stagnation and frenzy. In the crest, one moves boldly; forging alliances, expanding reach, pressing the advantage. In the trough, one turns inward; refining craft, strengthening the foundation, tending to the subtle work that sustains future victories.
This discipline of rhythm requires humility: the acceptance that the current cannot be bent to one’s will, only met with readiness. To ride the wave without fear, and to sharpen the blade without haste, is the mark of one who understands the deeper nature of timing.
